Apograph
Privacy Policy
Effective 8 September 2026
Apograph is built so that your recordings, transcripts and everything derived from them stay on your iPhone. The app has no account system, no server of its own that receives user content, and no analytics or advertising code. This policy explains exactly what stays on the device, the two things that do use the network, and what Apple handles on our behalf.
Who we are
Apograph is published by Sinergy Labs (“we”). Questions about this policy go to support@getapograph.io.
What stays on your iPhone
- Audio you record or import. Stored as files in the app's folder in the Files app, or in a folder you choose. The app never transmits them.
- Transcripts, speaker labels and edits. Stored alongside the audio as metadata and plain-text files.
- Your personal dictionary. Words you ask the app to remember are kept in the app's private storage and used only to improve later transcriptions on this device. They are not added to the iOS system dictionary.
- Preferences. Language, model choice and similar settings are stored in the app's private storage and in the app group shared with its own extensions.
- Downloaded models. Stored in the app's library and excluded from iCloud and iTunes backups because they can be downloaded again.
- The free-trial note. To keep the free trial honest, a small note of which recordings have used it is kept in the iPhone's Keychain. It stays on this device only, is never synced or transmitted, and — unlike everything else — survives deleting the app, so the trial cannot be reset by reinstalling. It says nothing about what you recorded.
Processing that happens on the device
Transcription (OpenAI Whisper via whisper.cpp), voice activity detection, language detection, speaker separation — telling the voices within a recording apart (sherpa-onnx with pyannote and 3D-Speaker models) — and spell checking (the iOS system spell checker) all run locally. None of them send data anywhere, and none of them identify a person by their voice.
What uses the network
- Model downloads. When you choose a model that is not bundled with the app, it is downloaded from storage.getapograph.io, which is served by Cloudflare. To deliver the file, Cloudflare processes the request — including your IP address — as our hosting provider, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We keep no per-request logs, and nothing about your recordings is sent with the request.
- Purchases. Apograph Pro is sold through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether a purchase exists; we never see your payment details, and the app verifies the purchase on the device without contacting a server of ours.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone — to record. Audio goes straight into a file on the device.
- Files and folders — only if you choose a custom recording folder, and only for that folder. The app keeps a bookmark so it can reach the folder again; it does not read anything else.
- Siri and Shortcuts — Quick Record lets you start a recording by voice or from Shortcuts and Control Center. The request is handled on the device.
- Share sheet — the “Transcribe with Apograph” action receives an audio or video file you explicitly share and copies it into the app.
Analytics, tracking and third parties
The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution SDKs, and does not use tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. If you have enabled Share With App Developers in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may send us aggregated crash and usage reports that Apple has already anonymised; this is controlled entirely by that iOS setting.
Data retention and deletion
Everything is under your control. Delete a recording in the app or in the Files app and it is gone; delete the app and its private storage, preferences and downloaded models go with it. The one exception is the free-trial note in the Keychain described above: it survives reinstalling — that is its job — but it never leaves the device and contains nothing about your recordings' content. Recordings you moved to a folder of your own stay there until you delete them. We hold no copy of anything and keep no records about individual users, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or erase on your behalf. The only party that processes anything about you is Cloudflare, transiently, when a model is downloaded. If you believe we hold something about you, write to support@getapograph.io and we will answer; if you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Apograph is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts to send or collect something new, this page will say so before the change ships, with a new effective date at the top. The current version is always at getapograph.io/privacy.
